 Now about the Gem Mining in Southeast Texas...
At Colorado Canyon, with the gemstone and fossil mining each child gets his or her own bag of mining ore, a screened mining tray and a color chart to learn which stones they find.
Colorado Canyon has a 24 ft. long mining sluice under their covered porch so this activity can be done rain or shine. ( for those of you that have never heard the word sluice until just now, it is a " A long box or trough through which water flows")
Each child gets to keep all the stones and or fossils!Some of the gemstones and fossils include: Ruby, Topaz, Sapphire, Obsidian, Amethyst, Emerald,Pyrite, Garnet, Arrow Head, Shark Tooth, etc. It is a true learning experience for children and adults alike! |
